Blakedown Church of England Primary School

Performances & The Arts

Welcome to the 'Performances and the Arts' page on our website which will tell you all about the performances and arts activities that the children in school take part in.

As part of the school vision linked to developing the overall skills and interests of the children and ensuring they leave Blakedown CE Primary School developed as an all-rounded person, we believe that the skills of the arts plays a key part in the development of this and in a busy primary school can often be overlooked.  The school actively tries to address this by:

  • Employing a Music specialist to teach across all year groups once a week to develop a love for music; a chance to learn a toned musical instrument; opportunities to create and take part in musical performance and to sing as part of an active choir.
  • Employing a P.E. specialist with the help of the Sports Funding who teaches across all year groups once a week and helps to develop the teaching skills of dance through on-going CPD with our staff;
  • Seeking high quality arts experiences for our children and looking for opportunities for where they can work with professionals to further develop their skills.  In Year 6, our children now visit Ingestre Hall Arts Residential Centre for a week to continue to develop their dance, drama, music, art and animation skills.
  • Planning of performing arts experiences where children perform to audiences both as a class or key stage for assemblies, act of worship and annual plays.

To celebrate the children's on-going work and achievements in these areas this page will record the opportunities that the children are being given.  Keep looking here to see how the musical, dramatic, artistic and dance skills of the children are developed and the occasions when they are given a chance to perform them.
