Blakedown Church of England Primary School

Geography

As geographers, our children at Blakedown CE Primary School will achieve a depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding of the world, its environments and places both near and far, and the processes that create and affect them both human and physical.

Our geography curriculum encourages children to appreciate and understand how the world works and the interconnections between communities and cultures, as well as allowing them to consider how they can themselves be respectful, sensitive and accepting of the world.

Geography ties closely with our school curriculum aims – through geography our children can learn to be change-makers, to be inquisitive and show creativity. For this reason, it is our ambition for children to leave Blakedown CE Primary School with a love of geography which will serve them throughout their lifetime.

As Michael Palin said, 'Geography is a subject which holds the key to our future.'
