Forest School

What is Forest School?

As a school we value the wider life experiences our children get through the varied opportunities they have in our curriculum, including the outdoors.  With this in mind, this year we would like to enhance this provision by offering all the children from Reception to Year 6 a full Forest School experience.

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.  Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and complements the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.

Recently, with the support of the Norman Dawson Trust and the school PTA, we have had an exciting opportunity to develop a class-sized outdoor shelter and log burner to ensure Forest School can take place for all our children throughout the year and that children’s skills are developed with age and ability year-on-year.

Forest School is a fantastic opportunity for children beyond the classroom where they can learn and risk take safely.

At Blakedown Forest School is run by qualified Forest School practitioners
