Blakedown CE Primary's School Council
At Blakedown Primary School our School Council is made up of two representatives from each year group in school. We attend regular meetings with Miss Alton. We discuss any issues that have been raised during talking time with our classes and try and think of ways we can solve them. We also think of fund-raising ideas to raise money for Charities and our School. We have our own budget which we use to organise fund raising events or buy things which we feel would benefit all of the children in our School.
Last year, we were asked to discuss the possible expansion of our School with our peers and write to the Council with our views. We also have other important responsibilities like being a part of the interviewing panel when new staff are employed and talking to visitors such as OFSTED,SIAMS and Prospective Parents.
This year, we have organised a bake sale. The aim of this event was to raise money for Comic Relief. Many kind Blakedown families donated cakes, biscuits and other goodies for us to sell. We managed to raise over £200 for the charity.
You can identify us by our blue School Council badges that we wear and from our photographs on our School Council display.
If you would like to know more about what the job involves why not speak to your current School Council representative about what they are expected to do.
